CML is a disease of the bone marrow and the blood which generally develops quite slowly. The bone marrow is where white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets are made. When someone has CML, their bone marrow makes too many damaged white blood cells. So, when someone is diagnosed with CML, it is often after a routine blood test has shown that there is a problem with one or more of the different kinds of cells found in the blood.
CML Group Lebanon is a nonprofit association created in 2009 in Beirut, Lebanon. Our aim is to provide support, information and any possible assistance to patients with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) and their families. The association is run by volunteers who vary from being CML patients themselves or are relatives of CML patients. We encourage all volunteers, whether affected by CML or not, to join our group and assist us in reaching our aim.
The CML Group Lebanon works very hard to gather up-to-date information about the disease by having strong connections with other international organizations and by attending annual international seminars.
In addition to providing information about the disease itself, we also work with the Lebanese Ministry of Health in following the latest treatments and ensuring their availability in the country as part of the health care program.
So far, the CML group Lebanon is unable to provide any financial support. We aspire, with the help of funds and sponsors, to be able to provide financial aid to those in need.
